Below are the important dates and considerations you will need to know for the 2024 Governor’s Art Show & Sale. The opening night Gala is May 10th, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and the show will run through Sunday, June 9, 2024. Please keep a copy of this letter on file as a reference.
Over the past few years we have made numerous efforts to create a show we are all proud to be involved with. If you are new to the show or have questions about how to best select works for the unique aspects of this show, we will have an expert available to answer questions and offer insights. Please do not hesitate to contact us anytime as we all prepare and work together to make this a great show.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Each artist is allowed to bring up to 4 pieces of artwork (a minimum of 3). Two will hang in the main upper gallery not to exceed 48″ w x 72″ h and the third and fourth smaller pieces will hang in the lower gallery. The pieces to hang in the lower gallery must be no larger than 24 x 24 inches framed.
Sculptors are allowed to bring 4 pieces. Sculpture should not exceed 42″ high. Anything over 48″ wide will need to be approved by the Governor’s Art Show Director. All of the sculptures will be located in the main gallery upstairs.
We ask that the artwork you bring to the show be removed from any social media or website, unless the image is being used to promote the show and the link, governorsartshow.org is included.
DISPLAY SPECIFICATIONS
We request that all paintings be framed. We understand the decision of a gallery wrap in certain cases, but our prior experience shows that in many cases a well-chosen frame can help make the sale. Again, use our experts for help in making this decision.
All artwork must be ready to hang and/or display; two-dimensional artwork must arrive show ready, appropriately framed, matted and/or mounted. Works must hang flat against the wall. We will not accept saw tooth clamps or protruding eye screws.
SALES AND RULES OF ACCEPTANCE:
All artwork must be original and for sale. The Governor’s Art Show will act as a gallery and retain 40% of the sale price on two dimensional artwork and 33.3% for three dimensional sculpture. If a sale is made after the closing of the show of a piece that was seen during the show, we hope that you will extend us the courtesy of sending us the appropriate commission.
IMPORTANT DATES
All dates are extremely important as we have hard deadlines for printing materials including the show catalog, price book, and gallery labels.
