Kirsten Savage is one of Colorado’s top contemporary realist oil painters. After graduating from the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art, Kirsten moved from Baltimore to Colorado where she found her love for the outdoors while leading a trail crew on Rocky Mountain’s 14,000′ peaks. For three consecutive summers she lived in a tent and worked on trail maintenance and conservation projects above tree-line. Kirsten now backpacks all over the high alpine country and Southwest desert to seek inspiration for her artwork. She exhibits in fine art shows across the United States and her artwork is in private and corporate collections around the world. Kirsten is currently represented by Abend Gallery in Denver, Colorado.
Kirsten’s oil paintings are about contemplation and connection. In her figurative works, she purposefully leaves some ambiguity in each piece so that the imagery is open to interpretation, offering challenging opportunities for the viewer to probe into her creative vision, inspiring critical thinking and personal reflection. In her landscapes, she seeks out those places that embody the expanse of the wild west, appreciating the opportunity to immerse herself in the spaces where the silence is deafening and the big open skies humble us.
