Desmond O’Hagan was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, and was raised in the United States. He paints in oils and pastels, and specializes in figurative, urban, interior, and landscape themes. In 2018, he was awarded Eminent Pastelist status from International Assoc. of Pastel Societies (IAPS) and is a member of IAPS’ “Master Circle.” O’Hagan is also a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America, and is listed in Who’s Who in American Art. He has won several awards including the IAPS’ Prix’d Pastel Award, and the George Innes, Jr. Memorial Award from the Salmagundi Club (NYC). His art has been the subject of feature articles in numerous national and international magazines including American Art Collector, The Artist’s Magazine, American Artist, Southwest Art, The Artist (England), International Artist, Gekkan Bijyutsu Art Magazine (Japan), and United Airlines’ Hemispheres magazine. O’Hagan’s paintings have also been featured in several books including Rockport Publisher’s, The Best of Pastel, The Best of Oil, and North Light Books’ Painting with Pastels by Maggie Price. His art is in public and private collections in the United States, Japan, Canada, and Europe. O’Hagan’s paintings are represented by galleries in Santa Fe, NM; Isle of Palms, SC; and Denver, CO. He also teaches a variety of workshops throughout the year.
