“Creating paintings that draw a viewer into the scene and cause an emotional reaction is always a goal. Some paintings are designed as a challenge to explore and render the subject’s tiniest details in a way that makes the viewer want to get within inches of the painted surface to see how it was done. Nothing is more gratifying than watching someone closely approach my paintings, then turn in wide-eyed wonder with mouths agape.
