Kim Mackey is considered by critics to be one of the best artists in the state of Colorado. The Denver Post has called him, “A master of this genre”. Educated at the Colorado Institute of Art, his early career as an illustrator paved the way to his present stature as an eagerly sought after painter. He has received the prestigious Winsor Newton Award from the Oil Painters of America and exhibited his work from New York to Chicago. He was a regular exhibitor at the prestigious Altermann’s Collectors Auctions in Santa Fe and Scottsdale. His work is included in the King Collection of Western Art at the Sangre de Cristo Fine Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado. He is represented by Big Horn Galleries in Cody Wyoming and Tubac, Arizona.
He lives and works amid his favorite subjects in southern Colorado finding inspiration from the ranches and cowboys of that colorful and legendary region.
