“I moved west in 1970 to attend college. I received a bachelor’s degree in zoology, worked in construction, returned to school, and received a degree in architecture.
“My interest in art started around the fourth grade with N.C. Wyeth’s Scribner book illustrations. By the fifth grade I started making my own drawings (dragsters and drum sets) followed by psychedelic art in high school. I took studio art classes while studying zoology. In architecture school, I received formal design training.
“Since 2004, I have pursued painting and drawing as my primary discipline. I focus on figures and landscapes. I have always admired woodcuts and try to achieve those effects. All figure work is from live subjects and landscape work is either made on site or in the studio based on plein air sketches.
“For this exhibit, I have entered paintings that feature the variations of local landscapes.”
